Feature Articles

Upated: June 2009

From time to time I write feature articles on issues that I think deserve more attention than they might get in my daily column.

This page provides an index to those articles.

If you'd like to republish any of these articles on your own website or periodical, please contact me.

  • Beware the Alternative Energy Scammers
How would you like unlimited free energy for just $49.95? Okay, that's probably a scam -- right? So how about spending $50 for valuable "secret" information that will allow you to generate most of your own electricity by building a wind and solar generator for under $200? Sorry, you've been scammed again.
  • Beware the ponzi scams!
I recently received a letter in the post that claimed I could earn $70,000.00 by simply sending $10 to someone and then posting out 200 copies of the same letter to others. Of course it's a huge scam. Do the math, warn your friends and see the names and addresses of those who were stupid enough to put their names to this illegal scheme.
  • NZ's own fuel-saver scam
NZ has its own HHO fuel-saver scam operating in the form of OctaFuel. I wrote this piece alerting people to the scam and three months later the owner of OctaFuel admitted it was fraudulent technology and simply doesn't work.
  • More fuel saver scams
Yes, there are dozens of different scams around at the moment, each promising to drastically reduce the fuel consumption of your car. In fact, if you fitted them all, you'd have to stop every few miles because your fuel tank would be overflowing because you'd actually be making gasoline as you drove along. But these devices can't really work... can they? Find out the truth.
  • The great "run your car on water" scam
Can you run a car on water? Plenty of people claim you can but it's time to expose these con-men. The laws of thermodynamics will not be broken!
  • The great hydrogen fuel myth
In a world exceedingly concerned about climate change, everyone is getting excited about hydrogen. They claim it's the fuel of the future. They're wrong.
